Size
Q - Is the ThrowMAX just for experienced players
with throwing problems or does it only fit and be used by rookies?
A - The ThrowMAX is for EVERYONE!!! We have designed
the brace for right and left-handed players and it comes in 4 different
sizes for the very young to the seasoned professional.
Q - How do I know which size is correct for me or
one of my players?
A - We use a sizing system based on the players height - we've found it
to be the best for approximate fitting.
X-Small up to 4'7"
Small 4'8"-5'2"
Medium 5'3"-5'8"
Large 5'9"+
However, bear in mind that a player who is 5'1"
may be better off with a Medium because that player is at his/her growth
stage and their bodies become stronger everyday. Also keep in mind that
a player who would normally wear a Large according to the chart may be
not strong enough for a large and could probably use the Medium. If you
have any questions, please call us first.
When/how to use
Q - Is the
brace only for practicing?
A - Use the
ThrowMAX whenever the player plays ball, whether it is just playing catch,
practice, or a game. The brace will not inhibit a proper throwing motion.
It will only correct an improper one. Once the proper motion is achieved
accuracy will come with practice, practice and more practice. Most players
will not be able to put on the ThrowMAX flexible arm brace and throw five
times and then take it off and throw properly. This is especially true
if one or variations of the three mentioned motions are already ingrained
in the player's muscle memory. It will take time to overcome an improper
throwing motion, but with the ThrowMAX brace, the difference is immediately
noticeable.
We have some college players that wear the brace every
game - it has saved several careers because had their bodies not had something
to show them the correct way to throw, the damage that they were causing
with the bad mechanics could have ended their playing days early.
Q - How tight should it be on my arm?
A - What we recommend is that no matter where the blue straps are placed,
one should be able to fit a finger in between the blue strap and the arm.
This is really a personal judgment call, some people like it a little
tighter than others, but no matter what the brace should at least be snug
on the arm without causing any numbness or pain.
Q - What is the earliest you recommend a player
start using the ThrowMAX?
A - We've had players as young as 5 years old use the brace. This may
not be for everyone, but if you have your players use the brace as early
as possible, it will teach them correct mechanics and will be less trouble
in the future.
